Shift Personal Training FAQs
1. What makes Shift PT different from other personal training services?
Shift PT is built with people whose lives don’t follow a “normal” routine in mind. I’ve been a shift worker since 2009, so I understand the fatigue, stress, irregular hours, and family pressures that come with the job. My coaching is designed around your roster, your lifestyle, and your energy levels — not a generic plan that assumes you work 9–5.
2. Do I need to be a shift worker to work with you?
No. While I specialise in supporting shift workers, I work with anyone who wants to improve their fitness, wellbeing, confidence, and daily habits. The same holistic, lifestyle‑based coaching applies to all clients.
3. How does coaching work if my schedule changes every week?
Your plan adapts with you. I design flexible training, nutrition, sleep, and recovery strategies that fit around earlies, lates, nights, overtime, and family commitments. You’ll never be expected to follow a rigid routine that doesn’t match your life.
4. What does “holistic coaching” mean?
It means I support your whole lifestyle — not just your workouts. This includes:
- Exercise and movement
- Nutrition guidance
- Sleep and recovery strategies
- Stress management
- Mindfulness and mental wellbeing
- Daily routines and habit building
All of these areas work together to create long‑term, sustainable progress.
5. Can you help if I feel exhausted, stressed, or burnt out from shift work?
Absolutely. Many clients feel exactly that way. Together, we’ll build strategies to improve your energy, manage stress, support recovery, and help you feel more balanced and in control.
6. What if I’m completely new to fitness or haven’t trained in years?
That’s perfectly fine. I meet you exactly where you are. We’ll build confidence, strength, and habits at a pace that feels achievable and supportive with no judgement or pressure.
7. Do you offer online coaching?
Yes. Shift PT is a hybrid service. You can work with me:
- Online, from anywhere
- In person, when convenient
- Or a mix of both This gives you support whenever your schedule allows.
- Shift PT uses a subscription based tool that tracks your progress and can be updated at any time to support your progress.
8. What kind of results can I expect?
Clients typically experience improvements in:
- Strength and mobility
- Energy levels
- Sleep quality
- Confidence
- Stress management
- Weight and body composition
- Long‑term habit change
Your results will depend on your goals, consistency, and lifestyle — but I’ll support you every step of the way.
9. How do you support clients emotionally as well as physically?
I genuinely love watching people grow. I celebrate every win, help you navigate setbacks, and provide encouragement when motivation dips. My coaching is empathetic, supportive, and grounded in real‑world understanding of the pressures you face.
10. What happens if I miss sessions because of overtime or family commitments?
Life happens, especially in shift work. My general terms are a 24 hour cancellation policy, but depending on the circumstances we may be able to adjust as needed. You’ll never be made to feel guilty or that you’ve fallen behind. Progress is personal, and we work with your reality, not against it.
11. Do you provide nutrition plans?
Yes but not restrictive diets. I offer personalised nutrition guidance that fits your schedule, energy levels, and preferences. The goal is to set sustainable eating habits introduced gradually, not short‑term fixes that are hard to maintain.
I hold a level 2 nutrition qualification from Eastleigh College.
12. How do I get started?
You can start with a consultation where we talk through your goals, your shift pattern, your lifestyle, and what support you need. From there, we build a personalised plan that fits your life. All you have to do is go to my contact page, send a request and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
